Okay as an idea or ten, I was playing around with upgrades to existing vehicles and realized that some don't need fancy overhauls; when all they need is improvement in armor protection.

So I was wondering what thoughts you guys had on this, would it make more sense to upgrade weapons only when there is a pressing need as well as revamping of the whole vehicle in the process, or would a simple "upgrade" of the armor or adding additional armor only?

Case by case. Though I do tend to uprate armor protection on all designs I monkey with. Whatever I can save in protection, while maintaning equivalent or better armor coverage, I chuck back into offensive weaponry. There are some weapons upgrades I favor that almost make it mandatory to upgrade armor in order too eek out the tonnage for the system or the ammunition for the system.

Most vehicles can enjoy a little more armor. There are very few out there that I say can live as is. :)

I see HFF being a big boost to IS armor designs. Take an old 3020s tank, strip out the old simple plate and give it HFF. You see a nice boost without breaking the bank, or having your tank in the shop for 6 months.
