Often because the battles have been rather large of late.

In order for this question to have meaning, you really need to first ask how often people are playing regular Battletech.

No, because there are other systems like Mechwarrior, Aerotech, etc which have varying degrees of popularity and not everyone who plays Battletech also plays Battleforce (and vice-versa). Besides, the question wasn't asking about other systems. If you want to find out how many people are playing other systems, just make your own poll(s) :)

If you don't have something to compare the results to then what is the point of doing the poll? For all we know you'd get the exact same results if you asked the same question about BT. At least from my own experience I haven't witnessed anyone playing a pen-and-paper game of BT anywhere (other than at a major convention) for at least the last 10 years. That's obviously not a valid sample size but it has been my experience.

Furthermore, no one "plays" Aerotech any more. At least not in the sense of being a standalone game, which it hasn't been for quite some time now.

What do you mean? My group plays out aero battles on a regular basis. Sure, we occasionally refer to more recent published rules but we still have a copy of AT2 on hand.

When you run a full-scale campaign BT does have rules that allow gaming at various levels, from individual characters to warship on warship. Yes, we do tweak the rules here and there to help them fit the campaign but I've yet to see my group use rules out of the box without having to make clarifications and adjustments.

Asking a question that pertains strictly to BattleForce (BF) is valid- The latest rules for BF are included in CBT: Strategic Operations (CGL 35004) and you may select forces and print unit unit sheets using features in the Heavy Metal programs. If you haven't tried playing out a company on company battle using the BF rules I suggest you try it- We're talking about one mapsheet, six counters/miniatures, two record sheets and dice for a basic scenario. You can even play with yourself- But try Battleforce first.

Aero battles, yes. But Aerotech hasn't existed as a separate branded "game" for several years. It is simply part of the overall ruleset now.

I've played Battleforce before (at least the version before the current one) and liked it. But if anyone in Houston plays it regularly I haven't heard about it.

Almost every weekend we play batteltech and Mechwarrior. Have for 25 years now. We dont like to just battle it out in mech so have built a campaing using both combined and have had characters that have gone on 5 years or more. We alll started playing D&D together and rolemaster, spacemaster, White wolf so roleplaying was a must for us.
