Let's say a player uses one or more custom units in a tournament and those unit descriptions are similar to unit descriptions in official products of nonCBT game products. That's copyright infringement if I'm not mistaken. I don't think that the copyright owners of CBT products intend on getting into legal trouble. So custom units shouldn't be used in tournaments.

Unless things have changed, Customs are not allowed in tournament play. Now the Agents may have new rules on that, but I don't think it would have changed since back when I was a Commando. Official tournament play was always official designs only.

Question: Would you consider games run a convention like UCon to be tournaments or just a one off game?

Cause I was gone for quite some time and a fine dust has settled in my absence. I have an answer for the OP so I am giving it... Not breaking any rule am I?

Karagan... It depends on the game. Most "tournaments" are handed down from TPTB to a Commando/Agent, on the other hand someone like you (a fan of the game), can have a game at UCon with whatever rules and Mechs you wish. Players can complain but since you are not "representing the company"... all bets are off!

First off Custom designs are not allowed in "official" tournaments, but from you rather confused way of putting it, nor are the Unseen Minis, non official tournaments are left up to the organizers to decide what's allowed.

Dave.
